Description: This is an original WWII poster by McClelland Barclay. This poster is circa 1944 and measures 18 x 23.25 inches. Including the linen backing, the poster measures 19.75 x 25.25 inches. This is a rare poster showing an American sailor being stabbed by a Japanese sword. This poster is in great condition with excellent color and has been professionally linen backed. When I acquired this poster, it was already linen backed with pencil markings on the linen. There are some minor marks, creasing (before linen backing), and general wear. The bottom border looks to have been added on. The pencil markings on the linen says "rare proof" - though I do not know how to tell if this was a proof for the poster that was printed besides the pencil writing (it looks identical to photos I have seen of the poster). A proof would have been printed to evaluate the poster before the full press run. The posters that were printed would have had the printing information on the bottom border - possibly this wasn't there on the proof (and the previous owner possibly had the bottom border restored) but I am not sure. Please see all photos for the condition as the photos are part of the description. This poster will be carefully packed and shipped to locations in the United States. Please contact me if you have any questions.
