The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics. Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased. This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War. This particular card was printed in remembrance of: Erich Schmitz Erich was a Sergeant in a Panzer unit and fell in Bioce, a small village in north Montenegro on November 29, 1944 at the age of 27.
