Description: This is a beautiful NOS/Deadstock regulation long-sleeve uniform shirt made from Simpson's Soulette sanforized poplin cotton, and was made and sold by Eisenberg & Ohara's in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in the very early 1960s. The shirt was regulation issue for the Philadelphia Police Department, and comes from the estate of a former Philadelphia police officer and veteran. This shirt is labeled as a size 17, and is approximately equal to a modern size XL. That being said, since this shirt is deadstock, with the original pins still in place, the actual measurements are unknown. A similar shirt from the same owner from slightly later was measured for comparison, and those measurements are below. This shirt features great union stamps, as well as the two special button holes for the policeman's badge above the left chest pocket. Above the union stamps are a very faded set of secondary stamps, somewhat yellow in color, that list the contract number, client's name, and date of construction. These stamps are very faded, but the date of this particular shirt's construction seems to be 1961. This lines up with the period when the original owner served on the PPD. The historical photo included is of a Philadelphia policeman from 1968, with the same style of regulation shirt on. Note the specific oversized collar components, raised epaulettes, and the beveled bottom corners on the chest pockets.
