History of Wicker Bamboo Animal Figurines •Originated in 1966 by bamboo weaving master Yu Zhang Gen in Shengxian County, Zhejiang, China. •A detailed art form involving design, mold-making, weaving, assembly, and finishing with paint and varnish. •Each piece is assigned a unique serial number. •The Shengxian County Artistic Bamboo Weaving Factory was renowned for its wicker animal designs and craftsmanship. •Designs were crafted by the factory’s design and innovation department. •Initially exported by Shanghai Handicrafts and later by Zhejiang Handicrafts Import-Export Corporation, as the factory lacked direct trading rights with foreign countries.
