These Beanie Baby Bears were made to celebrate the 10 year Anniversary of the Beanie Baby Collection in 2003. This is a set of 3, Red, White, & Blue, 10 year Anniversary Bears. They are 9 inches high and 5 inches wide. They are so cute with with silver sparkles on the Red, White, & Blue. These Bears are all named Decade and were "born" on January 22, 2003 and have the official 10 year anniversary button on their chests. A little history of Beanie Babies - In the 1990's the Beanie Baby craze swept through America. The first Beanie Babies appeared in 1993 at the World Toy Fair in New York City. These small stuffed animals came in all shapes - from common animals to characters from popular culture. Ty began retiring Beanie Babies in 1995, make them more unique and increased their value. When new beanie babies were released, Ty distributed only 36 of each style to independent retailers causing a huge frenzy starting in 1995. Adults flocked to stores to try to snag the newest Beanie Babies before they were sold out. The height of the Beanie Baby mania was in 1997 when McDonald's included Teenie Beanie Baby Miniatures in Happy Meals. Beanie Babies were more popular with adults than children back then - the kids that the adults had gone crazy! Ty decided to stop producing Beanie Babies in December of 1999, but high demand soon led them to reconsider and continue to induce new beanies. Ty is still producing beanie babies and has added other collections of plush to their line, but the original Beanie Babies have a special Nostalgia attached to them.
