This is an old Starrett Model No.454 vernier height gage..The surfaces of this tool are a little worse for wear, but the tool is still very functional.We gave the tool a wipe down and the put a few drops of oil on the adjustment screws, and we found the sliders freely move up and down the scale, the fine tune adjustment works great, and the scales are still legible. This tool may look like it came off the set of a Mad Max movie, but as we said, It works ! It came in its original box, but the sliding lid was lost. But making a new box lid should be easy enough to fabricate. If you are a collector of machine tool measuring equipment, this old Starrett Vernier Height Gage will be a nice addition to your collection.
