Description: Vintage Greyhound Package Express Bus No 0863 Destination Sign Express - 1/87 Scale Eagle Model 10 Motorcoach Diecast Model by Iconic Replica This Eagle Model 10 Motorcoach model features detailed interior and exterior, is 1/87 scale or HO Scale and measures about 5 1/2 Inches x 1 1/4 Inches x 1 1/2 Inches. The first Eagle coach was built in 1956 in Germany by the Karl Kassbohrer firm, a result of a contract with Continental Trailways who were looking for a 40-foot coach to compete with Greyhound's SceniCruiser. Unable to find a manufacturer in the USA who would start production on their terms, Continental looked to overseas. Trailway named the bus Kassbohrer designed the Golden Eagle. Once testing of the prototype was done in Texas, Continental Trailways president Maurice Moore signed a contract in May, 1957 for two articulated coaches, 50 Golden Eagles, four Super Golden Eagles and 41 Silver Eagles for delivery by the end of 1958 with options for 85 more Silver Eagles. Despite the mutually beneficial relationship, in 1959 Kassbohrer decided to apply its resources to the European market and ceased manufacturing mode for American Eagle coaches. An agreement was worked out with Bus & Car, N.V. in Belgium who produced Eagle coaches from 1961 to 1976 when production was transferred to Brownsville, TX. The first all-American Eagle was actually the Model 10 of which 2,217 were built between 1980 and 1987. ADULT COLLECTIBLE MODEL - Not intended for children under 14.
