This came out of a once very wealthy estate from the state of Illinois in the late 1990s. Thank you Gil for saving me that chaotic day and rescuing all the vintage clothing you saved as well as me. I will always thank Gil for every piece I list from that estate. This is an Edwardian Pigeon Breasted Jacket is very HIGH END. Well tailored. There are no markings or maker label. No info from the estate owner of who wore this in his family. Very RARE high end rich black silk velvet fancy jacket. Jacket is lined with extra fine cotton sateen fabric and I sides of sleeves are lined. Fitted hook and eye closure waistband. Hook and eye closure down the front, peplum bottom. Very tailored. No label or maker, no history provided at the time I was at the estate sale. Owner knew nothing of his ancestors who's estate he inherited. This would have been a two piece with a velvet trained skirt. No skirt was found. Faux cuffed bands at end of slightly curved sleeves. Taffeta ribbon with French Knot trims and thread work appliqus adorn the front of the jackets Faux panel down both fronts and back collar of the jacket. Ruched black taffeta at back and front waist. Super well made! This jacket is very, very heavy and was created for Fall/Winter season's. Small inner area inside the jacket front right waistband re-tacked back to the seam, not a rip, only loose threads. No rips, holes, no dryness. I have stored this out of light and dust. Slight rubbing along the taffeta trim along Faux cuffs folds from age, not tears. Bust 34, waist 23, length 28, shoulders 15, sleeves 24. Beautiful, clean condition. All sales final.
