Vintage Ajax Sambar Stag Colt 1911 Officer's Model Grips * Very Handsome *

Description: This is a beautiful set of vintage Sambar Stag grips made by Ajax for the Colt Officer's Model 1911 pistol, the downsized 1911 Model. These grips are in excellent condition and have a beautiful yellow-ivory color to them along with some darker brown-color bark in places. They show no evidence of having been mounted, and no mechanical wear to the exterior outside of the natural aging process. The hand-carving and shaping is superb and the resulting surface is beautifully-smooth. The telltale signs to look for as to ho wmuch a pair of grips like these have been used is to look at the screw holes on both sides. In particular, look at how shapr the edges of the hole are, square and sharp is a excellent indicator they have not been installed or used. You can also look down in the holes to see how sharp or worn the ledges inside these holes are. in this case they are near perfect. This is a solid and strong set of grips that would look equally as fantastic on a nickel plated or gloss blue finish. With both Sambar Stag grip blanks and new-production, finished grips exceptionally hard to get of any good quality or quantity these days, vintage Sambar Stag gris like these with such a beautiful, classy, and handsome look to them are rare indeed.
