Description: Vintage 1957 Fender Duo Sonic. I bought this guitar about 10 years ago from a friend that passed away and had a guitar collection. I found the guitar in the condition shown on the second picture. For some reason the guitar had been gutted out in the area of the pick guard, I have no idea why. Maybe to do some kind of modification. Who knows. I am not a musician but I love guitars and I’m handy with tools. So I decided to attempt to replace the area that was gutted. I didn’t know what it was gonna look like. The gutted area was repaired by adding a piece of elder, which is what the body of the was made. I think it came out pretty good, but what do I know and if this is something that a purist will appreciate. The body as shown and neck, fretboard, tuners, are all original and includes the original serial number plate. The pick guard was purchased on eBay from a knowledgeable guitar seller that said it was an original Duosonic 1957 pickguard. Pick guard holes matched remaining holes on the body so to me that was some sort of confirmation. The bridge and all the electronics are new eplicas of 1957 pick ups and switches. I think the same electronics you will find in today’s Diosonics. My son, who plays the guitar, said the guitar sounds really good. The guitar is easy to play, action is really excellent. I think the body and neck and Fretboard finish is original, I think it’s called nude. Replaced body section is also nude with a light sealant and polyurethane coat that matches the rest really well. So I am listing this guitar I don’t know how much it’s worth, I know I don’t expect to get rich, but just wondering how much someone wants to pay for it. I will consider all the offers I get.
