Description: For your consideration, a hair brooch from the mid-1800s. An excellent example of Victorian mourning jewelry, the hair in this piece is set behind glass, surrounded by a rim of sterling silver, adorned with enamel, and then fashioned into a brooch. There is a chip in the black enamel in one corner which can be easily restored/painted over. The pin mechanism works and is in perfect condition. On the back, there is a carved monogram though it is difficult to read the initials. Truly a unique piece that is like no other. Measures 1 x 1.5 inches.
