Krychevskyi had a broad range of talents: he contributed to architecture and painting, designed books, produced artistic presentations for theatrical performances and films, while also designing Ukraine’s national coat of arms, state seal, and paper money and stamps of the Ukrainian People’s Republic. Krychevskyi had an intimate knowledge of folk and world art, he knew how to teach, and constantly studied himself. Drawing inspiration from the artistic work of the Ukrainian people, Krychevskyi left behind a significant heritage – the artist’s creative influence and multifaceted individuality can be felt in all branches of art. In many of them, he is seen as an innovator and creator of the Ukrainian national style. Obverse: above, against the backdrop of an ornament developed by Krychevskyi, is the legend УКРАЇНА (Ukraine), below which is Ukraine’s small coat of arms; to the right and left of the coat of arms are the figures that make up the coin’s issue year 2023; in the center is a stylized decorative tree of life – an element from a state banknote of the Ukrainian People’s Republic; in the center of the tree is the coin’s face value ДВІ ГРИВНІ (2 hryvnias); beneath, against a smooth background, is the mint mark of the NBU’s Banknote Printing and Minting Works. Reverse: against a smooth background is a portrait of Krychevskyi, to the right of which is a composition that stands for the artist’s heritage: above is the coat of arms of the Ukrainian People’s Republic, below which is the first example of the new Ukrainian architectural style – the main facade of the building of the Poltava Province County Council (1903–1908) built to a design by Krychevskyi; to the left of the portrait, against a smooth background, is the semicircular legend ВАСИЛЬ КРИЧЕВСЬКИЙ (Vasyl Krychevskyi); his years of birth and death 1873/1952 are to the right of the portrait against a matt background.
