There is no lettering inside CIRCA: Early 1900s - 1930s MEASUREMENT: 7 1/4" H. - 4 1/2" L. CONDITION: The Sneath Glass Company produced this pretty Mission Coffee Canister. This coffee canister in crystal is a very hard piece to find. Our Mission style coffee canister is in UNDAMAGED CONDITION without chips or cracks. Note: There is some roughness on the inner rim of the jar which is typical with these jars. You can see this in our photo. The canister is embossed coffee. The lettering is well defined. Those not familiar with these early Sneath canisters need to be aware that these canisters came complete with bubbles and tiny mold flaws that are inherent properties of this type of glassware. There are tiny bubbles found with this piece if you look closely. You can see some of these in the photos provided. Please take the time to check them out. The aluminum lid is in good condition. It has dulled slightly from age and it does have a couple of very tiny dents. There are darker areas that can be cleaned. We have a close up picture of the lid. You will be able to tell how well preserved this lid is from taking a look at the picture. The jar is nice and clean both inside and out. This antique kitchen canister was handled with care and is as nice a one as you can expect to find. SNEATH CANISTERS: Sneath made at least 5 different syle canister sets that were used in Hoosier cabinets. The fives styles were: Colonial Mission Zipper (Quaker) Triple Skip Napanee These canister sets were included in many of the Hoosier -style cabinets made from the late 1800s through the 1930s.The first Hoosier-style cabinet was made by a furniture manufacturing company named Sellers in 1898, in Elwood, Indiana. It is believed that the name Hoosier cabinet came from one of the largest manufacturers of these cabinets-- the Hoosier Manufacturing Company of Indiana. Conflicting reports attribute the cabinet 's name to Indiana's nickname, "Hooiser," where most of these cabinets were made. Several other companies, most of which were located in Indiana also made Hoosier style cabinets. The Sneath Glass Company was the main supplier of glass canisters designed for this style of cabinet.
