SGC 3 - 1939-1946 Salutation Exhibits Ted Williams (#9 Not Showing) Red Sox HOF

Description: An SGC graded VG 3 - 1939-1946 Salutation Exhibit card of Hall of Famer Ted Williams of the Boston Red Sox. This is the "#9 Not Showing" photo variation and features the "Printed in U.S.A." line in the lower right corner. These postcard sized "Exhibit" cards were produced by the Exhibit Supply Company of Chicago. The cards were distributed in vending machines nationwide that were placed in stores and arcades. The "Salutation" Exhibit series was released from 1939 through 1946 and cards feature salutations such as "Yours Truly", "Sincerely Yours", etc. above the player's name/facsimile signature. Sometimes, the same photos were used for multiple years, with slight variations of the tint of the photo and the lines that read either "Made in U.S.A." or "Printed in U.S.A." in the lower left or right corner. This example has bold printing, nice focus and clean edges. The corners are consistent with those found on most VG+/VGEX examples, with the exception of more wear (and some minor creasing) near the upper corners. There are a couple of diagonal creases (approx. 1/4" and 3/8" long) near the upper right corner that do break the paper. There is a diagonal crease (approx. 1/4" long) near the upper left corner that breaks the paper as well. There is also a very light diagonal crease (approx. 1/4" long) near the lower right corner that does not break the paper. All of the creases are visible on the back. Otherwise, the card appears to be free of any additional creasing. The back does have some toning (as is very common with most Exhibit Supply Co. cards), but otherwise the back is clean.
