Description: This is an interesting lot of four 1962-D Jefferson Nickels, all graded mint state by PCGS and all displaying full steps qualities. These coins are very well struck for the issue and the steps are fully defined. These coins appear to be early die state strikes due to the clarity of Monticello's steps. There are four different MS grades assigned to the coins in this group, providing a sort of mint state full step grading set of 1962 Denver issue Jefferson Nickels. These are the following grades: MS61FS (#21035219), MS62FS (#21035221), MS63FS (#21030736) & MS64FS (#11242936). PCGS has graded only 1(!) 62-D in MS61FS (do they even use this grade for Jeff 5c anymore?) and only 3 in MS62FS. They have also graded 27 MS63FS & 73 MS64FS. There are also 3 in MS64+FS & 9 graded MS65FS (none higher). This set can be educational in showing the varying grades within the mint state spectrum. The MS61, 62, & 63FS coins are housed in Gen 4.0 holders and were graded during 2000 or 2001. The MS64FS 62-D is housed in a Gen 4.4 holder and was graded sometime in 2006. I submitted all of these coins back in the day. I believe they are from the same original BU 62-D nickel roll. It's possible that an upgrade candidate (or two?) may lie in this set. Here's a chance to own a PCGS pop 1 coin! This is a set for a serious student of full steps Jefferson Nickels. The 1962-D issue is really the only Denver mint issue from the decade of the 1960's that can be found with no questions full steps. This is a good deal. ** I sold a 1962-D PCGS MS64+FS Jefferson Nickel (one coin) on eBay last year (Summer 2023) for significantly more money than I'm asking for this group of four coins. *** Currently (7/6/24) there is one other 1962-D PCGS MS64FS Jefferson Nickel being offered on eBay for close to $700. Check my feedback, buyers do like my coins. Shipped USPS ground advantage.
