Description: This is a rare item. A King Edward VII 1902 Coronation Medal made by Carter. Featuring Kind Edward and Queen Alexandra. What makes this medal scarce is its ribbon. It features the Royal Standard mounted onto a brass Kings Crown pin holder. There is a strict protocol on the wearing and display of the Royal Standard and can only be used in the presence of the sovereign. It therefore highly likely that this medal was given to persons in attendance of the coronation. I have never seen another medal with a Royal Standard Ribbon. The medal itself is a plated metal, with a pressed brass kings crown and thin cotton linen Royal Standard Ribbon. It has been worn with pride over the years and has age related wear with fraying to the ribbon and some dings and dents to the medal. Please see pictures.
