Description: Up for sale here is a jacket from the Or Slow label, one of the perhaps smaller “American casual” labels going in Japan, but one that has managed to attract a pretty strong cult following. Or Slow mainly draws their inspiration from vintage military and work wear, where they often re-work and reinterpret classic pieces, adding their own unique stamp and aesthetic. In this case we have Or Slow’s take on the classic coverall. Fabric is an original denim from Or Slow in 100% cotton. Material probably the main draw as well, as this denim has a lot of character to it, there is a very nice texture and little specs of white throughout. Weight is on the somewhat lighter side, coming in a 9oz cotton and thus highly versatile. Or Slow constructs most of their pieces with aging in mind, where with additional wear this jacket should continue to pleasantly fade and develop. Silhouette follows vintage coveralls, including a extra button hole on the front originally intended for pocket watches, where you connect the chain on the button hole and put the watch in a separate compartment on the chest pocket. Chest pocket also has a pen slot, and there are two large patch pockets on the sides. Contrasting white chain stitching is used throughout and pockets are all reinforced with additional yellow thread. Buttons are metal with a laurel wreath pattern. There are no unnecessary details here – everything is in its place. Design is timeless and this will only get better with age. These jackets retail at about $390 outside of Japan, but get it here much more reasonably. Size is labeled a 3 and fits like a standard large. I measure the chest at 22.5”, shoulders at 18”, length at 30” from the base of the neck, and sleeves at 24” from the shoulder. The jacket comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains. Just some minimal fading of the indigo. Made in Japan.Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $30.
