Of The Imitation of Christ by Thomas A Kempis (Leather circa 1800s) Books I-IV

Description: This is a pocket sized "Of The Imitation of Christ" by Thomas A Kempis. It was published by Suttaby & Co, London but is not dated. This publisher was active in the 1800s, which is where the circa date came from. Sorry, but since there is no date inside, I can't give a definitive date of publishing. It is a leather bound book measuring 4x5.75". The brown leather cover is pretty soft and has a nice smell. The spine is worn and faded a bit lighter than the cover. There are lovely metal corner protectors on front and back. The metal parts that attached the clasp to the book are still there, but the clasp is missing. There is wear around the edges and on the cover. All of the edges of the pages are gilt. The attached red bookmark is inside but is torn at the end. No writing inside. The endpapers are torn where they meet the spine (pictured), but the book is intact and in no danger of falling apart. There are lovely sepia toned illustrations inside on a thicker paper than the text and the text is framed in red. The pages show tanning due to age and there are age spots/dirty spots inside.
