Description: From my personal collection - this 1988 collaboration of Larry Niven, Jerry Pournelle & Steven Barnes begins with THE LEGACY OF HEOROT (383pp) - an allusion to King Hrothgar's mead hall in 'Beowulf' - in which a small group of colonists attempt to carve out a beachhead on the vast planet Tau Ceti Four. All seems to be going to plan until monsters out of nightmare nicknamed "the Grendels" threaten to destroy the colony. In the 1995 sequel, BEOWULF'S CHILDREN (493pp) the colonists have prevailed, naming their new world 'Avalon' and their island paradise "Camelot'. A new generation has arisen and is determined to expand their domination of the planet - having forgotten the trauma of the 'Grendel Wars' fought by their forebearers. Now the humans and Grendels are about to learn much about one another...Both books are in very good condition with tight bindings and minimal wear and tear to the covers.A couple of tense page-turners ... highly recommended!
