Description: Up for sale here is this recap kit for the McIntosh MQ101 equalizer. This listing is just for the recap kit, not the elaborate capacitor kit that originally came with the equalizers and lets you adjust frequencies. At this point these are pretty old, and the old capacitors are weak and failing. We will make them new again! This kit includes replacements for all of the old electrolytic and tantalum capacitors, as well as the large Mylar capacitors (1 uf, .47 uf, .22 uf). It also includes instructions to explain how to install everything. This does not include any transistors or other capacitors or resistors. New caps are Nichicon PW, Nichicon KL, and Panasonic FC electrolytic capacitors, and Wima film caps--you will get the exact parts shown in the picture. These are all high-quality brand new genuine parts, the same parts I use when I work on vintage gear. The new caps are the same capacitance as the old ones (except the can cap values are slightly increased), at the same or higher voltages, so they will work better and last longer. The original can capacitor is replaced with two individual Nichicon PW 220 uf 160v capacitors. There are two different versions of the MQ101, and this includes enough capacitors to rebuild either version. I will include surprisingly well-written instructions, but this is moderately complicated, and you should know what you're doing and have a decent soldering iron. This kit will not fix everything that could be wrong with your equipment, but it will certainly help. Please see my pictures for details.
