Description: Description: Mammoth/Imperial Ambrotype Collodion Positive of Newcastle Maine 10x8 1/8" Photograph depicts eleven townspeople of Newcastle, Maine in 1850's-style clothing standing outside a residence. Ambrotype is cased in walnut Adirondack frame with carved leaf corners. Approximate Measurements: Glass and plate measure 10x8 1/8," frame is 14 1/2x12 1/2x1 1/4." Condition: Very good, antique condition, as found. Black shellac on plate is delaminated and cracking throughout, rust and corrosion in some areas. Collodion missing in multiple areas of print, could have occurred during manufacturing process. All glass is intact, no visible cracks or damage. Frame is dusty.
