Description: These 14 Russian buttons and 1 Russian buckle come in a $8 "SGT Riker" glass fronted case. These dug / excavated with a metal detector Russian relics were found in trenches along the Eastern Front of World War 1 (1914-1918) occupied by Czarist forces. They're a nice assortment of buttons worn by the Russians. They include the following: Russian plain-face "replacement" button (carried in sewing kit and could be sewn on any coat1st, 2nd, 3rd, 6th and 8th Regiments of Russian InfantryRussian signal corps (laid commo telegraph wire)Russian Heavy Artillery with crossed cannonsRussian double-headed eagle with sword7th and 14th Regiments of Russian Infantry officer's overcoat buttons1st, 4th and 5th Regt of Ordnance / Sappers "flaming bomb" buttons Also included is a rather rare infantryman's buckle with the script Russian letters "M", "P" and "Y" on it. The letters look like English letters M, P and Y, but I think they have different meanings in Russian. These clipped corner plates are very similar to American Civil War Confederate clip-corner buckles and have frequently been sold as "Confederate" on Civil War websites (you can understand the confusion for a dealer if they've never seen a Russian school buckle). These were used by students at technical schools which were all the rage and standard fare for teenage and older students attending vocational training. Remember, "classical" schooling was very rare for the vast majority of Russians. I assume the letters represent the trade school the soldier attended.
