Description: Limoges T&V Cabinet 9 1/4" Plate Hand Painted Pink Mums w/Gold Outlining 1890 Elegant Decorative T&V (Tressemann & Vogt) Fine China 9 1/4" CABINET PLATE, Striking Hand Painted by a Talented Artist & Inscribed on the Back A. Eversfield -X Mas - 1890, PINK Chrysanthemums with Leaves, Buds & Stems, Scalloped Rim, BOLD GOLD TRIM on Rim, 1890 from Limoges, France DESCRIPTION: This superb quality china has colors that are subtle & pastel. This was hand painted by an artist on a blank of fine satin finished china that has extensive gold outlining and gold scrollwork. The pink mums are exquisitely painted with beautiful outlining to accent the curvy petals of the mums. There are green leaves are also outlined & veined in gold paint. Parts of the rim has stippled gold paint that drops towards the center. CONDITION: While this plate is classified as used, the condition is superb. We find no nicks, chips, scratches, cracks, hairlines, or repairs. There appears to be absolutely no wear to the colors and no crazing. Look in the photos to see this. DIMENSIONS: The plate has a diameter of 9 1/4" with a height of 1 1/4". HISTORY/MARKS: Begun in the 1850's, Vogt & Dose became Tressemann & Vogt when Emillien Tressemann joined the company in 1882. This was essentially a decorating studio which began manufacturing their own china in 1891 in Limoges, France. The company continued until it was dissolved due to the retirement of Tressemann in 1907. From 1907-1919, the company operated as Porcelain Gustave Vogt under the direction of Gustave Vogt, John Vogt's son, and continued to use the T&V mark. T&V is well known for its quality whiteware and boldly decorated hand paintings. The marks used on this item are the manufacturers underglaze mark in green referenced in Mary Frank Gaston's Collector's Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain, 3rd edition as mark #4a used in the early 1890's. In addition, there is also the artist signature, A. Eversfield, signed & dated X Mas 1890 on the back of the plate. Please view all pictures carefully as they are part of the description.
