Description: Vintage King Seiko Chronometer Officially Certified Blue-Gray Dial 56KWM035 5626-7041 Day-Date Automatic Watch; Sold AS IS Condition: Pre-owned; Good Condition; Sold AS IS Dimensions: Approx. 36mm diameter excluding crown; 40mm lug-lug; 10mm thick; 18mm lug width Accessories: 18mm unused black leather strap; No box/paper/tags Notes: You have the opportunity to acquire a rare Vintage King Seiko Chronometer Officially Certified Blue-Gray 56KWM035 5626-7041 Day-Date Automatic Watch; Sold AS IS. Most of the King Seiko series was produced from Seiko's Suwa factory in 1963 to mid 1970’. Some of their watches did reach Chronometer grade status such as this 56KWM035 5625-7041. Based on the serial the watch dates to April 1973. The 5626B Chronometer grade movement featured 25 Jewels, a date complication and was Hi-beat at 28,800 bph. Unpolished case does have a few scratches. Of note, this late model dose not have a gold medallion but does have a screwdown caseback which allows you to access the movement; I believe there is also the option of a display caseback via third party sellers. Mineral crystal does have one or two hairline scratches (near 10 o'clock) but otherwise in very good shape without any chips/cracks. Some degeneration at the dial periphery, most noticeable near 6 and 9 o’clock, but the blue starburst dial (with patina down to a deep gray) is very presentable for a vintage. KS signed crown is in good shape, manually winds smooth and quickset day (Kanji/English)/date works with no issues. Please remember not change the day/date between 9PM and 3AM as the quickset gear is known to break over time. Of note, the day of weeks tends to float a little upwards after date changes but eventually settle to a near normal position later in the day. Movement with chronometer serial number is in very good shape with some aging on the rotor. Watch keeps good time, about +/- 5 spd (see timeographer pic). However given age, service is recommended for all vintages; the watch will be Sold AS IS, No Returns. The watch is paired with an unused black croc grain leather strap; it comfortably fits my 7.5 inch wrist. No box/paper/tags. Here's a very nice vintage Seiko for your collection that well priced under the competing Grand Seiko line of the time. Those that collect vintage Seikos know there's still good value in the King Seiko series - now receiving new appreciation with the modern revival of the King Seiko line!
