Description: This wonderful picture collage salutes the individual who many feel was the greatest American athlete of the 20th Century - Jim Thorpe, a Native American. He won gold at the 1912 Olympics Games held in stockholm in the pentathlon and decathlon. He lost these later when it was found that he played semi-pro baseball before the Olympic Games were played. His medals have been reinstated. Jim Thorpe also played professional baseball for the New York Giants and professional football for the Canton Bulldogs. The collage features a copy of a picture of him as a football player and a copy of the movie poster of the feature film made of his life starring Burt Lancaster as Jim Thorpe. Highlighting the collage is the First Day Cover of the stamp issued to honor Jim Thorpe. On the day a stamp is issued, it is only available in the city where it is issued and the Post Office certifies this by canceling the stamp “First Day of Issue.” Overall, a great collectible for any sports buff. The size of this matted picture is 11" x 14" and will fit any 11" x 14" inch frame. (a standard size). Solid Oak frames are available for an additional $20 with no increase in shipping charges.
