But the preponderance of the experiences selected for presentation pertains to the employment of standard tactics or techniques in somewhat unique situations.” This volume was owned by Major Bernard Loeffke (later Major General) and bears a gift inscription by him to a friend. Loeffke was born in Colombia, South America to an American father and a Spanish mother, graduated in 1957 from the U.S. Military Academy (West Point) and went on to serve 3 1/2 combat tours in Southeast Asia. He built a reputation as an effective and courageous leader, serving as a Special Forces officer, a paratroop adviser to Vietnamese units and an infantry battalion commander. When he retired from active military duty in 1992, Loeffke was serving as commanding general of U.S. Army South. Later, his fluency in multiple languages helped him in his post as military attaché in Moscow and as defense attaché in the People's Republic of China. He was later a staff member of the White House National Security Council. Enhanced with many dozen photos and drawings. Hardcover book in Very Good+ condition, tight and clean with no marks except gift inscription signed by Major Bernard Loeffke (later Major General) and two stamped Loeffke IDs (Loeffke was than assigned to West Point’s Foreign Language Department). Pages are clean and white. Brown covers with black titles on the spine are and bright and clean. Dust jacket is in Very Good condition with minor fraying on spine ends; few short closed tears.
