Description: Imperial German, WW1, Extremely Rare, Minty Naval Sea Pilots Badge, Named & Dated & Boxed in Original Hugo Schaper Case. The Naval Land Airplanes mostly operated from Marine Jastas in Flanders with the rest operating from Seaplane Squadrons on the Coast. This was not a large part of Kaiserliche Marine’s Avaition contribution to the Great War. The German Navy had it’s own Pilot’s Badges for Sea and Land Aircraft. I currently have both listed separately. This was one of the first Sea Plane Badges I had encountered in over 40 years of collecting. This extremely rare badge is engraved on the reverse with the pilots name and date. Flg. Maat Wintz 11.8.1916 Hugo Schaper was a Berlin Jeweler who specialized in making Pilot Badges and other awards during the Great War through WW2. I have since found 2 Mint Naval Sea Plane Badges, not engraved listed separately. Pilot badges for the Kaiserliche Marine are considerably rarer than Imperial Army Pilot Badges. Check out my other listings for military items mostly from 1837-1919. Multiple purchases can be combined for postal savings.
