IMPERIAL ALBUM OF LONDON VIEWS - 1890s/1900 & SOUVENIR ALBUM OF TOWER OF LONDON

Description: We are offering the "Imperial Album of London Views" by E. & S., Ltd., London. 1890s/1900 Souvenir Album. (9" x 12") Contains 26 photogravures, in sharp detail, with the history and information on each. There are also numerous postcards, snapshots, and very nice color lithographed cards of old English scenes pasted throughout by the traveler, who apparently had added to them in her later travels as a few photos appear to be a little bit later. Including two photos, beautifully embossed in high relief, of Field Marshal Sir John French and Field Marshal Lord Kitchener by Alexander Bassano. At the back of the album is a 16-page Souvenir Album "Tower of London" published by Gale & Polden, Ltd., with Historical and Descriptive Notes by the Viscount Dillon, P. S. A., late curator of Tower Armouries. Photogravures, which appear to be from the 1890s or slightly later, are: Houses of Parliament; The Royal Exchange; Cheapside; St. Paul's Cathedral; Birds-eye-view of the city of London; The Mansion House; Westminster Abbey; The Royal Courts of Justice; The British Museum; Piccadilly Circus; Tower Bridge; Ludgate Hill; The Thames Embankment; Aldwych; London Bridge; Regent St.; Trafalgar Square; Old Houses, Holborn; The Completed Constitution Hill Arch at Hyde Park Corner; The Queen Victoria Memorial; Blackfriars Bridge; The Roman Catholic Cathedral; Marble Arch; Westminster Bridge; The Horse Guards, Whitehall, and The Tower of London. In some of the above photos, we see horse-drawn delivery vehicles with signs advertising their business and/or products. There are also double-decker sight-seeing motor vehicles with tourists sitting on the upper decks, and signs advertising different things on the sides of them. Some of what is shown in The Souvenir Album of the Tower of London is: The Wardens and the Regalia, Traitors' Gate, Scaffold for Beheadings, Instruments of Punishment, and Famous People Executed. CONDITION: The album itself is generally in Good Condition. The photogravures, postcards, snapshots & lithographed cards are Excellent.
