Description: An excellent Hematite cluster, so called "iron rose", from Ouro Preto, in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Quite large for this deposit. Once only known from the Alps in Europe, the iron deposits at Ouro Preto(yes, the same ones which have also produced the imperia Topaz) have also produced good examples of this style of Hematite mineralization. This example specifically is excellent, with good size and formation. From an older collection, this might have been collected in Brazil during the 50's/60's.This specimen is 79 grams, or 2 3/4 oz.
