Description: Grosset & Dunlap began publishing Hardy Boys novels in 1927, in cooperation with young readers' book publishing group the Stratemeyer Syndicate. Between 1927 and 1959, 38 books were published. A major change to the series began in 1959 with a systematic revision of the first 38 novels, largely to update references and eliminate or curb racial and cultural stereotypes. In the case of some of the books, this involved minor character or language changes and some streamlining of plots; in others, however, the revision involved By the time the Grosset run ended in 1979, they had published 58 hardcover novels. Those novels have been published in numerous revised editions over the years, maintaining for the most part the general look and style of the Grosset & Dunlap originals, with some notable changes: over time the use of dust jackets ceased, the books began being published on blue cardboard boards instead of beige or tan cloth boards, and illustrations were reduced or eliminated. For sale here is a large collection of Grosset & Dunlap hardcovers, 37 books constituting 36 of the original 58 titles.
