It is rare because throughout the Northern arboreal habitat, fallen Maple trees must be harvested from the forest floor at EXACTLY the right time to capture the delicate calligraphic effects and exquisite colorations caused by the decay process. Only Maple becomes so beautiful by the decay process. It is rare and rather costly, but a perfect complement to our refined and very special speaker! We carefully select patterns to make pleasing matched pairs, shape and mill them into our front panels, then finish them with a clear satin lacquer.
