Description: The FIBHORN Model 3a gives you the CLEAREST WINDOW on your music of all the speakers that we build. Nothing added, nothing subtracted, just the musicians in your room. We use a single full-range driver: the FOSTEX FE208NV (other drivers are available. Please see DRIVER OPTIONS.) We build a FIBONACCI SEQUENCED horn for the driver back wave into the 3a cabinet. This horn is COMPRESSION DRIVEN and was inspired by the WESTERN ELECTRIC 555 speaker of 1928, considered by some to be the world's greatest speaker. We apply a FULL VERSION of the U.S. PATENTED (#5,304,746) EnABL system for the dramatic reduction of sound-damaging standing waves. We lock our cabinets to your floor with a rigid 4-point spike system. THE IMPORTANCE OF FULL FIBONACCI HORNS We use a FULL FIBONACCI PROPORTONED HORN to amplify and equalize the single driver back wave in every speaker that we build. Our careful and precise horn construction means that EVERY frequency of music is treated with equal fidelity to the signal in the original recording. EVERY dimension of our Model 3a horn design has a place on the exponential FIBONACCI curve. This is the FIBONACCI SEQUENCE, corresponding to the lowest part of the audible sound spectrum, expressed as vibrations per second. If extended to 20,000 hz and you could somehow send a constant volume frequency sweep from 1 hz to 20,000 hz through our Model 3a horn, you would hear every frequency at precisely the same volume as predicted by the anechoic response curve of the driver. This means our horn fits with music like your hand to a perfectly tailored glove. EVERY FUNDAMENTAL MUSICAL PITCH and EVERY OVERTONE on Planet Earth exist on the FIBONACCI curve, no matter the frequency. The vital necessity of FIBONACCI (aka EXPONENTIAL) sequencing in horn design was discovered and explored from 1918 to 1924 by the WESTERN ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH laboratory. Sadly, this wisdom has been overlooked if not completely forgotten by many of today's speaker designers.ITHE EnABL APPLICATION The "dash-dash" pattern that you will observe on the drivers & cabinets is NOT a simple painted decorative effect but is in fact a critical component of the extraordinary high-accuracy FIBHORN 3a design. This is the EnABL STANDING WAVE REDUCTION SYSTEM. Standing waves are audible distortion artifacts generated when sound energy waves (i.e. "music") follow their natural path of propagation and encounter a physical structural change (i.e. "discontinuity"). This music-distorting damage occurs both in the driver cone in the process of generating musical wave-energy and after, as the music expands over the edges of the speaker cabinet into the listening room. The U. S. PATENT that specifies correct implementation of the EnABL system indicates precisely how the "dash-dash" pattern must be applied. You will see this in our photos. How does the EnABL SYSTEM change the sound you hear from the speakers? Simply close your eyes while playing a well-made recording with a pair of our Model 3a and LISTEN. Your hearing will detect no hint that the music is coming from cabinets; the musicians will be perceived in a definite spatial relationship to each other in a reproduction of the ORIGINAL RECORDING VENUE. RIGID SPIKE FOOR-TO-CABINET COUPLING We install 4 heavy duty coupling spikes to each cabinet to rigidly anchor each speaker to the floor structure of your listening space. This eliminates all micro movement of the speaker when playing music. The result is better focus to all aspects of the sound, particularly the bass component.
