Description: At 83, it is time to give my Disston restored saws new homes. A word about the restorations. No SHINY saw plates, gently dealt with: 0000 Steel Wool, WD 40, 1000 grit sandpaper, saw plate treated with a wax as well as the tote. The tote is treated gently to preserve the patina and character of the saw. As best as I can, I used the EXCELLENT reference "DISSTONIAN INSTITUTE" as a reference (tip of the hat to that gentleman)! This saw is the economy line of saws for the handyman, farmer, DIY folks. More info on this line of saws can be had at the Disstonian Institute website. This K5 DEFENDER saw is a 26" length, 8ppi, Beech Tote (stained). An interesting observation is the medallion has a Disston Eagle and Warranted Superior on it. The screws are all brass, but the medallion is steel (magnetic). I am not certain if this is the original medallion on this saw. If anyone has any other ideas on this, please let me know.
