The magician shows a small black guillotine with two holes: one for a finger, and a smaller one at the bottom about the diameter of a pencil. Someone from the audience is asked to place their finger into the larger hole (the volunteer’s unfounded fear creates lots of laughter). A piece of spaghetti or some other narrow object is placed into the smaller hole. On three, the magician plunges the blade down through the finger (an illusion, obviously) with enough force to break the narrow object in the bottom hole to "prove" the blade is real. Needless to say, the volunteer’s finger is unharmed!
