But like their previous union together, it didn't last long. Unfazed, Dio returned directly back to work, issuing his next solo album two years later--1994's STRANGE HIGHWAYS. Returning to the fold is longtime Dio drummer Vinny Appice (who took a leave of absence on Dio's previous solo album, LOCK UP THE WOLVES), while ex-Dokken bassist Jeff Pilson and six-string newcomer Tracy G round out the line-up. Dio's patented sound of doom can be heard on "Give Her the Gun," while the band travels into thrash metal territory on such cuts as "Pain" and "Firehead."
