Description: Welcome to my listing of Carl Zeiss Jena Pancolar. The lens is in overall excellent condition, with a couple of minor flaws listed bellow as part of the description of the lens' details. Optical system: - Glass elements are very clear overall. I can see almost no blemishes to the glass - no scratches, not even light cleaning marks; the only things I could detect (Flaw #1) are a minor amount of very tiny point-like degradations of the coating on the lens' elements - Flaw #2: minor amount of fine dust particles inside the lens Mechanical system: - Aperture: correct throughout the entire range; satisfying snappy action; blades are dry - Focusing action is smooth, with a pleasing amount of damping - not too stiff nor too loose Lens barrel condition: - Super clean general condition, but very tiny signs of usage are visible on close inspection - Only a few point-like areas of paint loss/chipping - only visible upon very close inspection I think this is overall a very nice copy of this famous lens, with the flaws described above not impacting general usage in any way. Last 6 images are samples taken with it wide open at f1.8, straight out of camera JPEGs without any post-processing. Photographers interested in a manual lens of this focal length could do much worse than this Pancolar- the small minimum focusing distance can produce magnificent painterly bokeh, making for sublime portrait background, not to mention the semi-macro capabilities it opens up, while at the same time being a great general walk-around lens. DISCLAIMER: This is a relatively old piece of gear, and any prospective buyers should be aware of this fact. Dust particles, paint loss, imperfect focusing action are (unfortunately) par for the course for vintage lenses. People expecting the lens to be like new should not buy this lens. I give my best to accurately describe the details of the lens' condition in good faith, including any and all faults that I discover. However, I am only human and it is possible that some detail might have escaped my inspections - although I expect any such oversights to be very minor to insignificant, because I use the lenses for a period of time before listing them. In order to protect myself and my sanity, THIS LENS IS BEING SOLD AS IS - if any buyer has any complaints upon receiving the lens I will be glad to hear them out and will try to accommodate, but I generally DO NOT ACCEPT RETURNS - reason being that I believe I inform the buyer of exactly what they are getting without any obfuscation.
