Description: CANON FTb (NEW) (Read Camera Background Below) QL (Quick Load) 35 mm Camera with Posso MC (Multi Coated) Auto 28 mm 1:2.8 Lens (CLEANED, TESTED, NEW SEALS INSTALLED): in very good to excellent condition. Included in this package are: Canon FTb NEW QL Camera Body (Serial # 840370). Posso MC Auto 28 mm 1:2.8 Lens (Serial # 801478)Generic 52 mm Front Lens CapCamera background: The Canon FTb QL was introduced by Canon in March 1971 as the replacement for the Canon FT QL. (The FTb used the new FD lenses while the FT used the older FL lenses. It continued in production until 1976 when it was replaced by the Canon AE-1. The FTb was targeted for the "advanced amateur" market and featured Manual Focus and Manual Exposure. It is all metal construction and does not require a battery to take pictures - however it does require the battery for the light meter. NOTE: there are actually 2 versions of the FTb (the FTb and FTb NEW). The FTb was revised in 1973 to: 1. place the shutter speed in the left hand corner of the view-finder; 2. a plastic tip was added to the film transport lever; and 3. a thinner self timer lever replaced the large lever of the orginal FTb. While Canon did not put the "NEW" on the camera anywhere - the market called this camera the FTb New. Knowing the above listed 3 items - you will quickly be able to see which is the older version and which is the "NEW" version. Condition of this camera:Optics: Very good to excellent condition. Viewfinder is in very good condition - clear and bright with 2 very small and very light marks (likely on the the inside of the view finder). You will have to look closely to see these. Will have no effect on focus or pictures.Lens is in excellent condition - no cleaning marks/fungus/scratches. Clear and bright with no dust evident (very clean). Aperature - snappy rebound / no oil on blades / positive lock at all settings. Mechanical: Excellent conditionShutter is snappy at all speeds and "B" mode. Good Calibration. Shutter Speed setting accurately displayed in viewfinder. Shutter lock is working correctly.Light meter is working and displaying accurately in viewfinder. Good calibration.Battery compartment in excellent condition with no corrosion. Camera requires 1 625A battery or equivalent replacement (not included). Battery can be obtained from Wein or Varta. Please research your options on getting the required 1.35 voltage - there are several. Battery check is working as designed ( by rewind / ON - Off switch). NEW SEALS INSTALLED RECENTLY and in excellent condition.Wind/Rewind; Shutter Speed and ASA dials, Frame Counter, Self Timer, Stop Down Lever and Depth of Preview are all working as designed and operating smoothly. Mirror lock switch working.Cosmetics: Very good to excellent ConditionLeatherette is in excellent condition -Intack with no noticeable scratches or rub marks.Bottom plate is in good condition - with several very light scratches and rub marks. (Look closely at the pictures)Top Plate is in very good to excellent condition with a few very light scatches / rub marks on the back right below advance lever. These maybe too light to see in the pictures.Comments: Great example of a CANON FTb NEW QL in excellent mechanical condition. Very good to excellent cosmetic and optical condition. Cleaned, Lubed, and with the recent New Seals Installed you should be ready to go with this camera.This camera would make a very nice every day shooter.
