Some features of the Record 830: Sturdy metal construction Forward facing oscillating hook Free arm Knee lift function (arm not included) Feed dog drop Adjustable stitch width up to 4mm Adjustable needle position Internal cam stack with 20 utility and decorative patterns 4 step buttonhole Reverse capable Extra fine stitch length regulator Two speed motor This machine has been serviced and tested, and all functions work properly. All internals were cleaned, and re-oiled. (See photos taken during the cleaning process.) The foot pedal control is brand new. The upper tension disks were cleaned and adjusted. The original bulb was replaced with a brighter LED bulb. This machine has a mostly metal drive train. It does have two nylon components that can be problematic – the cam stack gear and the vertical shaft gear. Both gears are in good condition. A stitch sample may be found in the photos along with a sewing video. Also included is a photocopy of the original 64-page user manual. The included foot pedal control is not original – it’s a brand new electronic control. It is lighter than the original pedal, but it controls the speed of the machine exceptionally well. I’ve spent about 15 hours servicing and testing this Bernina I am not a thrift store reseller or estate auction house – my hobby is vintage sewing machines. (Check out my other machines for sale on Ebay and my feedback.) Beware of other listings that say that their machine “RUNS FINE!” or “WORKS!” without showing the internal condition of the machine. These Bernina’s were manufactured in the 1970’s. They are a great design. But they are 70 years old and need to be serviced to ensure that they work well for today as well as in the future. You can “save” money by purchasing a machine with an unknown service history or one that has been minimally tested. But with repair shop rates of $80-$125/hour, your savings will disappear the first time you bring it in for service. This listing is likely higher in price than other 830’s on eBay. But if you want to be assured of a trouble-free machine, this is the one you want. Keep in mind that this is a vintage machine. While it is in exceptional condition, it will have minor scratches and wear that have accumulated over the years. The photos are high resolution – please view them closely to ensure you are happy with the condition of the machine. Rest assured that the machine will be packaged securely to ensure it arrives to you undamaged – it usually takes me an hour to package my machines for shipment!
