Description: Beck's Big Buck Abelmoschus Esculentus This is the first year our farm has grown Beck's Big Buck Okra and we will be growing it every year from now on! The heat wave in the Florida Panhandle this summer has been insane! Most days are 95-100 deg F with 50-60% Humidity. The Okra plants would lightly wilt during the day, but spring back every afternoon. This okra variety produces very fat pods that makes great fried okra. The pods remain very tender, even at a full hands length. We have eaten enough fried okra this Summer that Papa wants a break lol Here is our little recipe: Rinse okra and cut into 1/3" slices. Stir 1 egg in a bowl and add a splash of milk. Add salt & pepper in the egg mix. Dip in here first! Mix 50/50 Italian breadcrumbs and floured corn meal for a super crispy coating! Papa likes to add more Italian seasoning while baby girl sneaks in crushed red pepper flakes. Place breadcrumb mix in a gallon bag and shake as you drop little okra pieces inside. Once they are coated, heat up a skillet of olive oil. Cook til it is a little darker than you think it should be.
