Description: Antique Walden Worchester No 8 Combination Wrench Set Sockets Wood Case READ ALL This rare and hard-to-find circa 1920-1923 antique Walden-Worchester Number 8 combination / interchangeable 1/2-drive socket wrench set will make an excellent addition to your collection. The set is enclosed in the original wooden box case and includes a No. 516 ratchet, a No. 1102 universal joint, two No. 1109 drive plugs, a No. 1139 extension, seven 2xx-series hex sockets with sizes from 1/2 to 15/16, and one No. 118 9/16 square socket (in addition to one odd flat ring/washer that was with it when I purchased it). The socket models and sizes are 118 (9/16 square), 216 (1/2), 218 (9/16, missing), 220 (5/8), 222 (11/16), 224 (3/4), 228 (7/8), and 230 (15/16). The set was marketed for early Ford Motors repair jobs and automobile mechanic work and repair in general. Previous listings mention that the set was featured in Walden's 1923 catalog but I cannot guarantee. The set does have wear including a stress crack/fracture on the 7/8" & 9/16" sockets as circled in red in the photos (and as shown in zoomed in detail in the last photo) in addition to heavy overall wear as described below so PLEASE read complete details below, closely review photos for details and let me know if you would like additional photos or information as I am happy to provide. ITEM DETAILS: Approximate weight is 6 lbs 8 ozs (HEAVY)Measures approximately 3" x 4" x 10.3" (case dimensions when closed)>>>Condition>>> In vintage pre-owned AS-IS used condition with heavy wear including stress cracks/fractures on the 7/8" & 9/16" sockets as mentioned above/as circled in red in photos (one of the photos is a duplicate end view so please ignore) and as shown in zoomed in detail in the last listing photo, heavy wear to the metal components including thick grease, grime, dirt, debris, gunk, stains, residue, scratches, dents, dings, scuffing, abrasions, chips, heavy denting, wear to the metal finish, chipping to the metal finish, tarnish, patina, rust, worn down edges/corners/raised details, dulling, scratching all over the metal finish, wear to the lettering imprint with some of the words/letters completely worn away, worn interior shapes/corners, heavy gunk/grim/grease/fibers on the inside of the sockets, RUST on the end of the wrench as shown in photos, rounded corners/edges, the wrench works as it should, loose components/parts such as the small rods that go through drive plugs and heavy overall wear as expected for used tools of this age. In addition, the case has wear including chipped corners, missing pieces of wood, breaks, cracks, scratches, scuff marks, dents, dings, abrasions, rust on the metal components, dulling, stains, patina, tarnish, the inside of the box is very dirty with caked on grime/gunk/debris, the wooden dowel plugs that the sockets sit on are loose and will fall out if turned upside down (and pull out with the sockets on occasion), there are white paint splatters on the outside of the box, the mitered joints of the box are worn with chips and gaps, the front latch is loose against the wood box with gapping, cracks, darkening, brittleness and overall wear from age and handling.
