Antique Vintage Hickory Shaft Kennett Newmarket Sammy

Description: This item is a 35 1/4" right-handed iron. It is a Sammy with lined face scoring. Unknown Triangle cleek mark (Dewar Troon?). Marked for the pro C Kennett of Newmarket. 26* loft and a B 4 swingweight. Strikes me a short for a Sammy so I suspect it has been shortened. The head is in good clean condition. It does have the expected play nicks and dings and a dark patina. Please look at the many zoom pictures to get a better idea of condition. The shaft is an old hickory. It has a bend, I see no cracks and it has some play at the hosel. Always re-set hickory irons before play. The grip is an old long leather wrap that is in good vintage condition.If you are considering playing with this club, while I see no issues with this hickory shaft (other than those mentioned above), I suggest that whipping be added just above the hosel to help prevent breakage. These hickory shafts often have hidden defects and are liable to break at any time. I do not guarantee hickory shafts against breakage when put into play. Never hit an old hickory shafted club off a driving range mat. Never hit an old hickory shafted wood with a hard range ball.Shipping in the US is calculated and based on a 3-pound box.
