Description: Nice richly colored cranberry glass pickle castor on an ornate stand by the Meriden Co.. The glass features an inverted hexagon or coinspot pattern. The ornate stand is quadruple silver-plated by the Meriden Co., per stamp on the underside. There are vertical striations on the base of the stand and the handle features some more elaborate designs. There is a hook on the side for the tongs and the tongs are in good condition. It is stamped Meriden B. Co. on the underside with their scales makers' mark. Meriden B. Co. was formed in 1852 in Meriden, Connecticut. Meriden operated until 1898 when it became part of the International Silver Company. Good condition. The Glass jar is very good with light chipping at the rim. The Silver-plate stand has some tarnishing and wear on metal surfaces. The lid is also tarnished. Stands 11 1/2 inches tall.
