Description: This beautiful one-of-a-kind 1900-1930's Tribal rug makes it's way from the Selime Monastery in Cappadocia. It features an all over cross pattern with geometric borders. The cross (hac) motif in Turkish culture is used against evil eye and formed of a vertical and horizontal line. According to the Anatolian belief the cross reduces the power of the evil glance by dividing it into four pieces. This rug features an extremely dense, tightly woven wool pile on a solid cotton foundation that is great for high traffic areas. Natural dyes and colors include: indigo, ivory, grey, and more. This hand made rug is made of non-shedding hand spun wool making it easy to clean, and making it incredibly soft to walk and lounge on. This densely woven wool rug contains natural oils called lanolin that naturally resist dirt and grime, therefore allowing it to look cleaner for much longer than synthetic rugs. Regular vacuuming will remove any dirt and grime, and allow you to enjoy your rug for many decades.
