Description: 50 Sabal minor seeds. These were harvested from our sabal minors the original mother palms were planted in 1989 in Catawba County NC at my parents home in zone 7b which is outside of their native range. The original palms are pictures 1 thru 4. Pictures 5 and 6 are were planted in 2000. They are from seeds of the original palms and are at our current home. These palms have survived through the years with minimum care and several dips into the single digits to at least 4F. We do not protect these here in our climate. The flowers are a great source of nectar for pollinators and the seeds are loved by wildlife and are hands down the favorite palm for birds in my area. Sabal minor will grow in sun or shade wet or regular soil. They are disease and insect resistant as well as fire resistant. These should be hardy to zone 7a, possibly hardier in a good location. In an ideal location they should get to at least 7 feet tall probably more in a warmer climate.
