Description: 3-in-1 Lustrous Orange Barite, Cerussite and Galena – Mibladen, Midelt Province, Morocco (4 x 2.3 x 2.3 cm) Description:· A wonderful 3-in-1 Miniature specimen of Orange Barite, Cerussite and Galena· This specimen has beautiful well-formed thin bladed orange barite crystals, surrounded by clear, transparent cerussite crystals, and a matrix of galena, giving it a good and appealing contrast· The cerussite crystals are transparent and clear, reflecting the color of the galena matrix, with some natural occurring inclusions· Source: Mibladen, Midelt Province, Morocco · Size: Overall – approx. 4 x 2.3 x 2.3 cm; largest individual bladed orange barite crystal measures approximately 1.8 cm; largest cerussite crystal measures about 7mm! · Condition: Good, on display in cabinet only. This featured miniature specimen is a 3-in-1 specimen of Barite, Cerussite and Galena, all in one cluster. The beautiful well-formed thin bladed orange barite crystals stand out in this specimen, with the most prominent one protruding at the top of the specimen on the left, measuring approximately 1.8 cm. Surrounding the Barite crystals are the Cerussite crystals. These crystals form some of the most interesting, complex, and varied crystals and groupings in the mineral kingdom. In this specimen, they display an array of fascinating crystal formations – from prismatic to elongated tabular crystals, including complex wide crystal formations and bizarre twinning habits. The largest cerussite crystal measures about 7mm. The Cerussite crystals are clear and transparent, as evident by the crystals reflecting the darker shade from the matrix of Galena, including some natural occurring inclusions. This specimen has good color, luster, form and structure, housing 3 types of crystals all in one miniature specimen – barite, cerussite and galena. The orange in the barite, contrasted by the clear and transparent cerussite and the shiny steel gray galena as the matrix makes this specimen not only unique but stunning, sturdy and very showy. This specimen displays and shows very well. Such pleasing and charming qualities certainly make this specimen worthy as a great addition to any mineral collection! This excellent specimen can be yours for $24 plus shipping and handling. Specimen Background information: Barite is a mineral composed of barium sulfate (BaSO4). It receives its name from the Greek word "barys" which means "heavy." This name is in response to barite's high specific gravity of 4.5, which is exceptional for a nonmetallic mineral.Barite is well-known for its great range of colors and varied crystal forms and habits. Barite can be colorless, white, light blue, light yellow, light red, or light green. The Barite in this featured specimen is orange and it has a thin bladed formation. It is an immensely popular mineral among collectors.Barite is easily identifiable by its heavy weight, since most similar minerals are much lighter. It sometimes forms tufacious mounds from deposition of hot, barium-rich springs. Barite often occurs as concretions and void-filling crystals in sediments and sedimentary rocks. Barite is also found as concretions in sand and sandstone. These concretions grow as barite crystallizes within the interstitial spaces between sand grains.Cerussite is an interesting mineral, forming in an array of fascinating crystal formations and bizarre twinning habits. It is easily identifiable by its heavy weight, brilliant luster, and crystal habits. Cerussite is a mineral composed of Lead carbonate, sometimes with silver and chromium. It can be colorless, white, cream, light gray, light yellow, and brown. The Cerussite in this featured specimen is clear and transparent. This featured specimen also has Galena, which is composed of lead sulfide, hence, it is steel gray in color. Galena may contain impurities such as silver, antimony and copper. Galena is often well crystallized and forms in many interesting and distinct crystal shapes. Some cubic crystals have their edges cut by the partial octahedral growth, some octahedral crystals have their points flattened by cubic growth, and many crystals are found somewhat in-between cubic and octahedral. Note: **All specimens are taken in natural and regular lighting only. This specimen looks much better in person in order to appreciate the vibrant color, shape, formation habits, unique structure and the luster, which can be difficult to capture on camera. Color may be a little different due to the color calibration of each individual monitor or light levels. **As with all genuine mineral specimens, there may be natural occurring inclusions, cleavages, imperfections, incomplete growths, formations and impressions, including minor abrasions on the edges due to the excavation process. We have posted close up pictures at all angles for your viewing pleasure in this listing, to show you the fine details, color, form, structure and overall beauty of this fine specimen.**We will only ship to the 48 contiguous U.S. states (No International).**All orders ship within 3-5 business days after receiving cleared payment.
