A big change is the final engine build is to Pagani specs now port injection(which keeps the intake valves clean, other wise on the older ones the heads have to pulled and the intake valves bead blasted every 35K miles as the intake valves beome so carbonized they no longer seal, resulting in a big loss of power and MPH.. In Direct injection the fuel never touched the valves . About 99.9% of all cars now are not port but direct injection, Direct is good for emissions, but port gives the most power! This is the 1st used car I have purchased in 4 years, because of Covid, Stupid dealer prices, chip shortage, etc. 1st one that met ALL my criteria. Full MB new car warranty is untouched except the park distance receives 1 extra year. Also since this is s CA born car virtually everything on the Drivetrain receives another add. 4 years of warranty (8 total)!!Assignment paperwork(instructions for DMV) has been reissued with NO buyback language and is a clear title in virtually every state. Issued by Mercedes Benz of North America...I only buy from the factory manufacturer(MBUSA BMWNA PorscheNA Porsche, Ferrari ,) NEVER from a private or owned franchised dealer. MBUSA gives full disclosure to the cars condition and give it a CPO like inspection for damages(current or prior) Never painted on, never damaged. Tires are 65% new in back Brand new fronts(less than 40 miles Michelin Pilot Sport 4S with road hazard and 30K mi warranty). Carbon ceramic pads are original and 70% as new. factory carbon ceramic pads are about $250 and last a very long time. Replacing pads is the same as any other car ..39mins or less. Rotors are good up to 300,000 miles so of course no wear at all. Interior as new, no scuffs, scratches or wear. New MB carbon ceramic pads run about $355 but last 5X as long as normal pads, all while giving you vastly better stopping. These Brembo Carbon ceramic rotors will last up to 300,000 miles if not abused . I would say given the unavailability of used cars at auction over 1/2 of all cars listed are previous salvage, theft recovery, etc, with massive amounts of paintwork and MANY undisclosed issues. There's something innately appealing and old-school about a 6.0-liter V12 bi-turbo sending all 630 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels, though, which is exactly the case here. An AMG SpeedShift seven-speed automatic transmission with shift paddles is standard.Floor it and the S65 will hit 60 mph in around 3.6 seconds .More impressive 80-140mph in 4.3 seconds. It's a seriously impressive performance from a large, heavy luxo-barge. Once on the move, the S65 displays unreal passing power and will blast past slower traffic without breaking a sweat. Overall, it's hard to fault the S65's acceleration and power, especially as it's delivered with so much refinement and poise. With a V12-engined S-Class sedan nearing extinction (a Final Edition 4 Door was announced in the second quarter of 2019), we should appreciate this powerplant for as long as we still have it. Only the new 2023 Maybach 680 "S" @ $600,000 will receive this AMG/Pagani V12 twin turbo engine. And of course the 2.5 million dollar Pagani Huayra with a Titanium exhaust and smaller turbos.Handling and Driving ImpressionsMercedes' Magic Body Control boasts a curve tilting function that significantly reduces body roll through corners, allowing you to carry more speed through the twisties than anticipated for such a big coupe. The system also uses a camera to scan the road ahead for impending bumps and prepares the adaptive suspension for them. Pushed hard, the S65's limits are lower than in the more sporting S63 Coupe. The steering offers little feedback, but that's par for the course in a car such as this. On smooth roads in Comfort mode, the S65 wafts along peacefully, with vault-like refinement adding to the sensation of being entirely cut off from the outside world. In the sportier suspension modes, and riding on 20-inch wheels, you do feel some sharper bumps filter through to the cabin. This is still a magnificent car to drive and be driven in, however, and when driven more modestly - relying on torque rather than outright power - and guiding rather than thrashing it, the S65 is right in its element. eating and Interior SpaceIt only takes one look inside the S-Class' interior - and by extension this S65 Coupe - to understand why Mercedes remains the benchmark at this elite end of the market. Seating four, the coupe's beautiful cabin offers brilliant comfort for the driver and front-seat passenger, with supportive, cushy seats and plentiful leg and headroom. At the back, the S65 Coupe can accommodate two passengers, but the legroom is average and the headroom will be tight for people over six-feet tall. Foot space is also limited at the back. Getting into the back is made easier thanks to large, wide-opening doors and front seats that move forward electrically, but some twisting and turning will still be required. AMG S65 Coupe Trunk and Cargo SpaceAs large as the S65 Coupe may be, a lot of its size is taken up by a long hood. The much shorter rear-end and means a trunk capacity of only 19.4 cubic feet, so while 2 large suitcases will fit, you'll need to be strategic about what else you put in there. Of course, the S65's price of almost $275,000 (With Carbon Brakes, Designo, Carbon exterior trim, etc.) has a lot to do with the vast range of standard amenities catering to the driver and passengers' every whim. Both front seats have 14-way power adjustment with a memory system, six massage programs, heating and ventilation. There's also heating for the rear seats, front armrests and steering wheel. Other standard features include dual-zone automatic climate control, soft-close doors, remote start via the Mercedes Me mobile app, hands-free access, and a power rear-window sunshade. Unlike lesser S-Class coupes, the S65 also gets a standard surround-view camera system, a head-up display, and the contents of the extensive Driver Assistance Package that comes with a host of driver aids. Despite so much to play with, Mercedes has still found some options to throw your money at. Among them are lightweight, less un sprung weight Carbon Ceramic Brakes, Carbon Exterior pkgs, Designo options, Hand stitched leather headliner, Maybach flowing wood etc.. An electrically heated windshield and optional wood steering wheel are also available. You would think for over a quarter million dollars US it would be standard. ------------------------- First Ride: 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-class Prototype, Now More Semi-Autonomous Than Ever The current S-class makes do with Generation 3 gear, which means it also has adaptive cruise control that can bring the car to a stop, albeit mixed with lower-bandwidth lane-keeping assist and fewer sensors. That changes with the 2018 S-class, which leapfrogs the E-class with Generation 4.5 equipment and software.According to Mercedes, the hardware installed on the revised S-class is more or less the same as the sensor package on the E-class. The left hand disclosure is the LA disclosure now that it has left CA instructing any DMV that the car no longer has any buyback nomenclature in the instructions as it is a clear title in virtually every state as CA buybacks do not exist outside CA. Car goes through a full CPO inspection and has to be certified to the state of California (or Florida, the only other state with this insane law) the car has zero issues of any sort.
