This is NOT my hobby. THIS IS HOW I TRY TO EARN A LIVING FOR THE PAST 28 YEARS, INCLUDING THE LAST 24 YEARS ON EBAY. That means I have to sell my items in a timely manner. Otherwise, I will hear my wife ask me "Hey, Jerry, when are you going to make a deposit at the bank?" When was the last time you saw on Ebay a factory sealed case of 1989 Classic Orange Baseball Card Sets? (Except sold by me! Six times in the last three years! ) THERE HAVE NOT BEEN ANY--EXCEPT SOLD BY ME--ON EBAY IN 2023. HOW ABOUT 2022? NO! HOW ABOUT THE YEAR BEFORE THAT? NO! How about the year before that? Or the year before that? Let's put it this way. The Classic 1989 Baseball Set Case is almost as hard to find as a brain in Agent Orange's head! Anyway, I am selling ONE SEALED FACTORY SET CASE OF 1989 CLASSIC ORANGE BASEBALL SETS. There are 24 sets in the case. There are 50 cards in the set. The key card is the pre-rookie card of Ken Griffey, Jr. It is card 131. (The set was numbered 101 to 150 because there were 100 Classic cards before that so this was a continuation of the 1989 Classic series that began with the Blue board game 100-card set earlier in the year. The borders of the 1987 original Classic Green board game 100-card set were, well, green! (I probably sold more than 75 Green Classic sets at card shows in 1987 and 1988. (Try finding factory sealed 1987 Green sets now! I do have one on eBay currently!) This a factory sealed case. In addition, each of the 24 sets is protected in the box and the 50-card set is wrapped in cellophane. THESE CARDS ARE MINT. THESE SETS ARE MINT. ALL 24 OF THEM. That means there is a good chance for some Griffeys to be graded 9s or 10s. In addition to Griffey, the Orange set includes stars like Bo Jackson, Roger Clemens, Mark McGwire (his RC is in the 1987 Classic Yellow set), Wade Boggs, Roberto Alomar, Fred McGriff and a guy named Barry Bonds. (In opening many sets over the last 34 years, I have noticed that it is extremely rare to find a mint Boggs since most have a bit of white showing at the bottom of the photo, yet they are all centered!) By the way, only 250,000 Orange sets were made. Not a lot, compared to Topps, Fleer, Donruss, who probably made 25 times that during 1989. Even Upper Deck made maybe 10 times the number of sets in their first year--1989. There was a time about 15 years ago when I used to sell Factory Sealed Classic Orange Cases for $800, INCLUDING 10 CASES TO A STATE COP IN NEW JERSEY. And that was only $33 per set. The price of this case is just $598.00! That is about $25 per set! REMEMBER, YOU GET 24 GRIFFEYS, 24 BONDS, 24 MCGWIRES, 24 CLEMENS, 24 MATTINGLYS, 24 MCGRIFFS, 24 BO JACKSONS, 24 ROBERTO ALOMARS, ETC. You score just one or two Griffey 10 grades and you have almost paid for the case! My warehouse is 99% full. I need to sell some stuff or I will not have room for anything else. I have exactly THREE more cases to sell on Ebay--one at a time. My four children will each inherit three cases. One of the undiscovered (and UNDERVALUED!) products of the 1980s that has a super rare Griffey RC, a Bo Jackson and a Bonds. Shipping for one case is $48.60--that is about $2.00 per set.
