It is a unique, one-of-a-kind piece of folk art that was once worn in a traditional Kuna (Guna) woman's blouse. This mola comes from my collection, and I have been going to Kuna Yala (the San Blas Islands) since 1974 and have made over 89 trips there as an ethnographer and collector, buying directly from the Kuna women who make and wear molas.
