Description: Here is a used but still very nice 1969 Top of the Line, made in USA Rawlings top of the line XFG 1 (second year) FastBack model Heart of the Hide (HOH) baseball glove for a Right-Hand thrower and thus fits on the left hand. The mitt was made in the USA and is adult sized measuring 11.5" long through the pocket. The mitt was made in 1978 and was the first FastBack model glove made that year (the model was made through 1976). This model is a 1969 model as it has the 4 dots on the back. You can tell this glove is a 1969 model (and not a 1974 model) since it has the early horizontal slit HolDster finger hole and also the Patent on the glove was still Patent Pending on the FastBack and HolDster additions. By 1974 the patent numbers had been used for a few years. This top-of-the-line Rawlings fielders glove was the most expensive Rawlings fielders glove and retailed in the catalog for $49.25 in 1969. Stamped on the front of the mitt is Basket-Web, "Deep Well" Pocket (the KET at end are very light), FastBack Model (light), the Heart of the Hide bull steer logo (light), XFG 1 (light), Rawlings, U.S.A. (the A partially covered by the lace hole) and For The Professional Player. On the back is stamped Edge-U-Cated Heel, Pat. No. 3,995,757, 100 % Nylon Sewn, 4 dots (for date code 1969), Pat. No. 3,321,771, FastBAck, Patent Applied For and HolDster. Also a decent red/white original Rawlings patch. The initials M.Z. are written in black marker on the back bottom of the thumb. The Heart of the Hide logo and the FastBack logo are a little light in the pocket and the "1" in the XFG 1 stamping is very light, but there. The original red Rawlings cloth patch is decent. The interior and exterior leather are still soft on this mitt. The interior leather is soft with no chafing inside. The lacing appears original and intact with some wear. The Fastback leather strap at the bottom is worn and has a partial tear in it but it is still holding (and has a knot in it). I'm guessing the owner caused this. The leather piping is soft showing light wear. It still has the feel of a quality top-of-the-line Heart of the Hide glove. I have other gloves and mitts on eBay now as auctions and/or Buy it Now, and I like to combine shipping whenever possible.
