1955 Press Photo Lost Indian Civilizations with Uranium in the Colorado Plateau

Description: 1955 Vintage Press Photo.Uranium prospectors who have flooded the vast Colorado Plateau regions of New Mexico, Utah, Arizona and Colorado in recent years, have stumbled upon more than precious metal. They have discovered lost and forgotten pages of American history. They have uncovered evidence of dead Indian civilizations wedged in forboding rock formations. They have seen "ghost" towns, standing mutely and illogically on out of the way trails as monuments of bygone eras of prospecting, when the metal was called gold or silver. Ancient cliff dwellings of unknown origin, tucked away somewhere on the Colorado Plateau, were sighted from a helicopter. The roof poles and rock slab doors are still in place. Such ruins are difficult to reach by foot because they were nestled in surroundings where an enemy could be warded off easily. Photo is Dated: August 23, 1955. THIS IS AN AUTHENTIC PHOTO, NOT A COPY OR SCANS. Photo Measures Approximately: 7 x 9 Inches. THERE ARE FEW MINOR CREASE MARKINGS. Part Number: AAA53685 ALL items are more than likely going to have condition wear (small creases, corner wear, etc...) due to age and touching.
